Edmonton’s 100 Mile House is a collaboration comprised of husband and wife duo Peter Stone and Denise MacKay, and their friend Scott Zubot. With Stone’s vocals and acoustic roundabouts, MacKay’s soft, elapsing voice, suitcase rhythms and snare tempo, and Zubot’s violin and mandolin harmonies, the group creates an uplifting, inspired, unique sound, spiced with a liberal dose of British pop sensibility. Their long list of achievements includes winning the Emerging Artist Award at the 2014 Edmonton Folk Music Festival, walking away with the Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Contest prize (twice!), and winning Folk/Roots Album of the Year in 2012 at the Edmonton Music Awards. We’re thrilled to be bringing 100 Mile House’s unique brand of transatlantic folk to UP+DT 16 as part of the Alberta Music showcase!
