About This Project

Edmonton, AB

Over the past ten years, Edmonton audiences have become well acquainted with songstress Jessica Jalbert. Long before Jalbert began recording under the solo moniker Faith Healer, she made boppy garage rock in Tee-Tahs, kicked up a racket in Punk Explosion, and even played in a scattering of cover bands. In 2011 Jalbert released her solo album Brother Loyola, and in [year] called upon her old friend Renny Wilson to help create her latest solo album Cosmic Troubles (Jalbert’s debut as Faith Healer), serving up a steady diet of psychedelic rock influences that are perfectly married with classic pop harmonies. Cosmic Troubles was number one on CKUA’s Top 100 albums for 2015, and received critical praise in Pitchfork, Rookie Magazine, Spin, Stereogum, and Uncut. It also caught the attention and praise from Stars’ Torquil Campbell, CBC’s Grant Lawrence, and The New Pornographer’s A.C. Newman. Fresh off her first trip down to SXSW and an Emerging Artist Award from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Arts Awards, we’re thrilled to have Faith Healer playing UP+DT this coming October.
