Louise Burns is an adaptive pop chameleon whose ability to flit between guitar-driven indie pop and neon-hued new wave has put her atop Vancouver’s vibrant pop landscape. Having spent two decades of her 30-year-old life making music – co-founding pop group Lillix and signing to Madonna’s Maverick Records four years later at 15 – Burns has been at the forefront of Canada’s indie renaissance. She is an instrumentalist whose songwriting is equal parts grit and gloss, which you can catch on her latest release Young Mopes, co-produced by Colin Stuart (Dan Mangan, Black Mountain) and Damian Taylor (Bjork, Braids, Austa). And if she wasn’t busy enough as a solo artist and highly sought after collaborator, Burns also lends her talents as a freelance contributor and host for CBC’s Radio 3.
