Named for the pre-Cold War precursor to the propaganda outlet Voice of Russia, Radio Moscow are a blues-rock trio originally from Iowa, that embody a truly anachronistic retro feel. The band formed as a collaboration between two garage rock enthusiasts whose tastes had shifted into the heavy side of late-’60s psychedelia. The group’s founding members, guitarist, singer, songwriter, and drummer Parker Griggs and bassist Luke McDuff approached The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach with a demo following a Black Keys gig, and he was impressed enough to both produce their debut album and to get the duo signed to his label, Alive Records. With some lineup changes along the road, the rock ‘n’ roll power trio of Radio Moscow is now rounded out by Griggs, and the fresh rhythm section of bassist Anthony Meier and drummer Paul Marrone. To date Radio Moscow has released five studio albums: their self-titled debut (2007), Brain Cycles (2009), The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz (2011), Magical Dirt (2014), and New Beginnings (2017).
