The Provincial Archive are no strangers to UP+DT. The power trio from Edmonton has honing their craft through dark winters over the last seven years, releasing four records, touring the country and the world: all from the remote northern outpost that the band calls home.
In 2015, The Provincial Archive downsized to a trio and one month following the change, a reformed group entered the studio to record, live-off-the floor, with producer Nik Kozub (Shout Out Out Out Out). The self-titled release has drawn comparisons to 90s alt rock, and represents a departure from the band’s folk and pop influenced beginnings. Think pop’s golden era of REM, Teenage Fanclub, and Pavement. With their jangly, pop-tastic, fuzzy shoegaze vibes of yore, The Provincial Archive are sure to give 90s kids of all ages warm and fuzzy nostalgic feels one can really sway to.
