Local musicians Spencer Morphy, Addison Hiller, and Dean Kheroufi will be bringing their breezy, psychedelic pop tunes to the UP+DT stage. Their hook-laden songwriting style and heavy guitar pop has led to raucous live shows across Canada, the USA, and UK, giving them the chance to open for the likes of July Talk, Elephant Stone, Michael Rault, and USS. Since Morphy formed the band in 2014 – after some time vagabonding around Australia – The Velverteins released their self-titled debut, catching the ear of Cage The Elephant’s Lincoln Parish. Parish produced 2016’s A Hot Second With The Velveteins, and their momentum has been unstoppable – from playing The Great Escape in Brighton, winning an EMA for Pop Recording of the Year, and having their tunes featured on the TV series Kingdom. Their latest Slow Wave sticks true to style with earworm worthy melodies that will keep you dancing long into the night.
