If you thought psychedelic pop went out of fashion with tie-dye and patchouli, think again. Since forming in 2012, the quartet that make up Halifax band Walrus has been channeling their inner psychedelia, with songs that range from trance to surf. Their music adheres to all levels of inebriation or consciousness, taking you swiftly into a dream you’ll find yourself never wanting to wake up from. Citing Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spaceman 3, MGMT, and the Beatles as their influences, the tour of their new EP Goodbye Something (Madic Records/Arts and Crafts) has seen hit the road with Wintersleep and Evening Hymns.
Over the last few years we’ve been busy touring, playing over 200 shows around Canada and the US and performing at Halifax Pop Explosion, POP Montreal, Obey,NXNE, CMW, Stereophonic, Nova Scotia Music Week, Montreal Psych Fest, and more. You can catch their dreamlike brand of psych-pop at UP+DT.
